Summer means two things — humidity and excessive oil. Well, it does for me. My normal beauty routine is not up to par in the war against the smudgy, oily mess that results from 100% humidity. No one likes to look like a reject from Madame Tussauds. Here are my favorite drugstore beauty products for summertime.
Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfecter BB Cream. This is considered one of the best bb creams on the market. Beauty balm creams are all-in-one products. This bb cream is a tinted moisturizer with shine control and SPF 20. Other products have anti-aging properties. It is a good alternative to cream foundations. The humidity wreaks havoc on cream-based products. Add to the excessive buildup of oil that occurs throughout the day, and my makeup is done! I still set it with my Neutrogena Shine Control translucent powder. This product does keep oil at bay for several hours. I have never purchased a product before that actually delivers on the company’s promise to reduce shine. This bb cream retails for $12.99. I purchased it at Walmart for $9.99.
e.l.f Studio Long-Lasting Luminous Eyeshadow. I love e.l.f. products. This eyeshadow is a glittery gel-based product you can apply with your finger. It holds up better than most eyeshadows. It will crease after several hours, but you can quickly re-apply with no problem. I love the colors Toast (nude) and Soiree (pink). It retails for $3 at Target, Walmart, and select drugstores and online.
e.l.f. Essential Liquid Eyeliner. This liner is only $1! The applicator isn’t awesome, but it is workable with a little practice.
Physicians Formula Va Va Voom Volume Mascara. Best drugstore mascara ever! It definitely wins the award for best packaging. The brush is amazing. The mascara lasts throughout the day. It retails for $5.99 (although I purchased mine at Ulta and received 20% off).
Drew Barrymore’s Flower Lip Butter. Drew Barrymore’s Flower line of cosmetics is only available at Walmart. I recently discovered lip butter. It’s great for summer. It moisturizers and has the coverage of a lip stick, but it doesn’t have the greasiness of a lip gloss. I use Haute Honeysuckle (a sheer nude) for minimalistic days and Rose-y Future (a deep pink) for a more colorful look. It retails for $6.99.
