Chalk it up to one of those what-they-never-tell-you-about-blogging experiences. It occurred to me that attending a mall event falls under the fashionista appearance umbrella. I packed up the hubby (he’s such a trooper) and the camera and headed to a re-opening celebration for the Belk in the mall.
Belk sells Free People, y’all. This is not a sponsored post. I went on my own accord. I just want to express me love of Free People. I never had access before.
I watched Elton John perform. Well, not that Elton. Almost Elton. He fronts a band called Still Standing A Tribute to Elton John. I was hoping they’d play Tiny Dancer, but I’m not sure if I missed it, or if it didn’t make the cut.
This is sparkly black jacket Elton (with the incredible photobombing giant teddy bear):
And the back up crew. They’re the Still Standing part.
Set two featured sparkly red jacket Elton:
In addition to Elton’s appearance, the princesses visited. The Ice Princess, the Snow Princess, and the Frog Princess gave me a princess tutorial.
I’m supposed to be Ariel. I’m not sure I nailed the part.
The princesses are part of a company called Once Upon A Time Parties. It’s run by this lady (who is going to kill me for posting this):
Katie says she isn’t fashionable, but I really want her boots.
Let’s talk about my outfit, shall we. I’ll start with my fabulous accessories.
The necklace was free from Modern and Chic Boutique. They have a freebie every month. This statement piece really stands out. I kept the earrings simple. I didn’t want to overdo the jewelry. I’m already making a statement with the necklace and the bold lip color.
The bangle was a nice find in a vintage store grab bag. I paid $6 for the entire bag. You get what you get. It’s a little bit of crap shoot. I did find several nice items, including this bracelet.
This is the only picture that shows part of the blue bralette I brought from Bella Boutique.
The lipstick is MAC Cosmetics Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour in High Drama. It’s a bold burgundy color.
For the rest of the outfit — tada!
The top (Forever 21) is a cropped high-low tee. I tucked in the back portion of the tee. The lace skirt was a fortunate find on the Charlotte Russe clearance rack. The wedges were thrifted.
- Top: $10
- Skirt: $13
- Shoes: $4
- Bracelet: 25 cents
- Necklace: Free
- Bralette you can’t see in any of the pictures: $24
Total cost: $51.25
Why do I suddenly have Benny and the Jets playing in my head?
Benn-ay! Benn-ay! Benn-ay! and the Jee-ee-ets.
